lived in Rhode Island and later, New Jersey.
Frank Gilbreth, father of
the family, was a prominent building contractor in Boston
and became a pioneer in the field of scientific
management.
Lillian Gilbreth, mother of
the family, earned a Ph.D. in psychology from Brown
University. She worked with her husband to further their
studies of scientific management and management
engineering.
